Mount Vernon Baptist Temple held their first service in November of 1994 at the local YMCA with Pastor David Wood, Jr.  We then purchased a small building at 56 Mansfield Avenue.   As the church grew in numbers, we purchased four-plus acres on Yauger Road in 1999 and paid off the land in February of 2000. On April 1, 2001, Pastor Bill Fennell became our Senior Pastor.   In May of 2001, Klema Construction was signed on to building a building at the Yauger Road property and we held our first service in the new facility March 24, 2002.  The dedication of this new building was May 19, 2002.  
 

Over the years we have strived to be a lighthouse in Mount Vernon and the surrounding area and we have been blessed with the addition of many new families, as well as  to the scores of  missionaries we support world-wide. During this time we also founded Temple Christian Academy, which now has classes for Kindergarten through 8th grade.

 

Most recently, we have seen God's hand to leading us to a new property on Floralwood Drive, Howard.  We were gifted 14 acres by very generous donors, and we purchased  an additional six acres for a 20+ acre campus.  We are currently meeting in our new sanctuary.
