A Changed Life Through A Change of Position

Bible Passage: Colossians 3:12-17

After Paul finishes telling the Colossian believers to mortify certain deeds in their lives, he changes his direction from removal of things to the addition of things.
He gives us the illustration of clothing with put off and put on. Paul exhorts his reads to put of the “graveclothes” of sin and the old life, and to put on the “graceclothes” of holiness and the new life in Christ.
The emphasis of this section is on our motives, not just our actions. We need to be careful that we don’t simply do certain things, but the motive behind doing is right as well as the action.
You and I have a choice in the way that we will live. To put off something is a choice to make a decision to remove something. To put on something is a choice to make a decision to add something to your life.
