Bible Passage: Judges 18
The book of Judges follows the conquest of the land of Canaan but tells the story of the children of Israel and their struggle to remain right with God. They would constantly rebel against God’s laws, God’s ways, and God’s commandments and sin against Him. In response, God would bring judgment upon Israel and they would, in turn, repent and come back to God.
The key thought as you read through the book is found in Judges 21:25, “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
What caused this spiral of following God, don’t follow God? In a simplistic answer: The spiral was caused by apathy, complacency, or indifference in the lives of the children of Israel. Often times our own lives are marked by complacency, apathy, or indifference. As we look at our passage today, I want you to consider your own life and ask God to help you overcome an apathetic attitude.
