Breaking Through Hurt
Breaking Through Hurt
Speaker: Pastor Joshua Lehman
Bible Passage: Psalm 37:1-9
There is not a soul on the planet that has not faced being hurt by someone or something at some point in time in their life. Being hurt is universal. Learning how to respond when someone or something hurts us is critical as we live for Jesus Christ.
Hurt is an area that affects Christians more than the lost world because God has called us to connect with one another and to give our lives for one another. The world may be able to shelter themselves from hurt, but the Christian is called to turn the other cheek. He is called to love his enemies. He is called to allow Christ to have vengeance and not take vengeance upon himself. He is called to not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
Though we are called to turn the other cheek, many of God’s children do not and they allow hurt to transform itself into anger and bitterness. Many Christians are completely out of the church and out of serving Christ because of hurt. You probably know someone or many someones who have been hurt by a Christian or a church and now wants nothing to do with church or God. We must learn how to biblically deal with hurt.
