Bible Passage: John 4:46-54

As we enter into our passage, Jesus has recently begun his ministry on earth. The first time He revealed Himself as the Messiah is at the beginning of our chapter to the Samaritan women at the well. Since then, he has traveled up and down Galilee visiting villages, towns, and cities preaching in their synagogues, calling people to repentance for the kingdom of God is at hand. His fame is spreading, people are being healed and God is being glorified. Truly, it was a wonderful time to be alive in Israel.
The Bible tells us in verse 46 that Jesus has come back into Cana of Galilee where he made water into wine. In this town, this village, he is met by a nobleman, a ruler, a high-ranking man from Capernaum, who has traveled the 25-mile treacherous journey to see Jesus. This trip that the nobleman has made was not an easy trip.
As we look at this account in the Word of God today and focus on these two characters, Jesus and Nobleman, I want to ask you, “What is it going to take for you to believe in Jesus Christ?” As we keep that question in our minds, I want you to see three aspects of the nobleman’s journey to belief in Jesus as we move through this passage together.
