The Connection Between Lust & Adultery
Bible Passage: Matthew 5:27-30
I’d like for you to take the Word of God with me, please, and turn to Matthew 5:27-30. Last week, Jesus reviewed the 6th commandment with His disciples, which says, “Thou shalt not kill.” Tonight, Jesus begins a two-part teaching on the 7th commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
As a pastor, I am commanded to preach the whole counsel of God. I am to teach the Word and be instant in season and out of season. I am commanded to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. The reason? For the time will come they, after their own lusts, will heap to themselves teachers having itches ear and they will turn from the truth to believe in fables.
This week, and next, Lord willing, are some of those out-of-season messages. They are the Word of God and must be taught, but they are also very challenging ones to teach.
