The Light of the World
The Light of the World
Speaker: Pastor Joshua Lehman
Bible Passage: Matthew 5:14-16
I’d like for you to take the Word of God with me, please, and turn to Matthew 5:14-16. Last week, we saw Jesus’s first metaphor for the Christian life and that was salt. Today, we see the second metaphor and that is light. Salt operates internally, it penetrates and cleanses from the inside. Light operates externally.
Once light enters an area, darkness has to flee. This is why the Jews killed Jesus. Though Christ’s death was part of God’s plan, the Jews thought they were in charge and killed Him to remove the light. Why? Because men loved darkness rather than light. Listen, darkness and light cannot inhabit the same area. Light is more powerful. Once light enters, darkness flees.
