After Paul boldly declares the awesomeness of Christ, the preeminence of Christ, he shifts his attention to the purpose of Christ. Why is Christ preeminent? What is the purpose of it all? He uses a word in verse 26, “mystery.” Then again in verse 27, this mystery? A mystery in the Bible is something that was not clearly revealed in the Old Testament but is made known in the New Testament.
